This may not apply to fishing...
I have found that if I plan to going fishing something will go horribly wrong just before time to leave.

Last week for example.  We were to meet at the launch at 2:30.  (I'm 5 minutes from the launch)
Trip was confirmed at 2.
At 2:15 Lightning struck a transformer outside my office. When I turned on the generator the transfer switch locked up with half our power coming from the street and half from the generator. (Thank god for good UPS's). It let all the smoke out of those coils on the transfer swich...  2 and a half hours later I finally got the power back on, rigged but back on....  I was down to 25% on two of the UPS units so not much time to spare.

So,  no longer am I planning fishing trips during the week. It's going to be spontaneous from now on!
