Title: First and second cook on Big Easy SRG
Post by: boxerdog14 on February 23, 2017, 09:21:35 PM
I hope the photos attach and are okay...I was having trouble with PhotoBucket working for me tonight.  This was my first and second cook on the SRG.  Soooo good.  Pork loin, pork roast and baby backs on one cook, and i grilled T-bones on the second.  The third cook I made a whole chicken and forgot to post.  I had some issues with the chicken.  Lesson learned to not count on one thermometer for the temp of the meat.  I know someone has posted to foil the digital thermometer when closing the lid.  I must have done something wrong?  Tried to search the process of using the digital with no luck.

I bought the Big Easy as well and I love it. You are in for a lot of good eating!

So far my favorite is the prime rib that I made.

I bought a remote read wireless thermometer and I love it as well. After a lot of research I decided on the Smoke by Thermoworks. You may want to invest in that.

That food all looks awesome!

When placing the probe in chicken or any other meat with bones you want to be careful the probe is not touching the bone or you might get an incorrect read.

Also spot checking with an instant read thermometer like a thermapen is a great asset

BobDe, can you tell me how you cooked your prime rib, I tried one and it didn't quite turnout so I've stayed away but know the SRG should be great for that.

Thanks
Tom
