Bubba Burgers and Fries on the SRG
« Reply #-1 on: July 09, 2014, 07:32:41 PM »
On June 29th Spuds asked about doing fries on the SRG. So I decided to give it a shot
and try it out. The frozen fries were lightly sprayed with canola oil and put on the SRG grate on
high. This probably wasn’t what Spuds had in mind since I don’t believe you get the infrared
effect using the grate. At least that is what I thought I read somewhere. I hope one of the
SRG Gurus can help me on this one. I am burning oak pellets on the grate. I did put about
½ cup of pellets in the pellet box.

In about 10 minutes they were done. A few got burnt as I was also working on the yard at the
same time. They were definitely nice and crispy.

Once I pulled them off the SRG I put the Bubba burgers on. 2 were jalapeno and the other 2 regular.

Burgers are done!

I added some Monterrey Jack cheese, mayo, horseradish mustard, onion and tomato to my burger.
I also cut up an English cucumber and some radishes.  A simple and tasty Wednesday night dinner.

So the answer is yes they can be cooked on the grill grate and be crunchy on the outside and tender
in the middle.  My next test will be to do them in the basket to see how that works.

That is a PERFECT Wednesday night dinner. Very nice. Actually, my understanding is that the grate on the SRG is designed to give the IR effect - so this was the right choice. Good looking eats!

Thank you,what I needed to know.Appreciated. ;)

Another question, reading about rust.Is that user error or proper care negates that issue?
Feel free to share my pictorials anywhere you like.Could mention from Spuds if you remember.
