Title: Ortech controller and Cooking Pellets 100% Hickory
Post by: Smokin Don on December 02, 2013, 10:49:13 AM
I got my new Ortech controller installed yesterday on my Traeger 07E. It passed the test run on smoke mode and then 180 deg. After a bit on 180 it sat there at 180-185 deg. One thing I like is the rotary switch for the P#'s and the fact it will go up and down.

I have it loaded up with Cooking Pellets 100% hickory and anxious to see how both cook some ribs soon! This is the first time I use 100% hickory. Don

You're gonna love that 100% hickory, Don.  I've still got the ol' 225 "outofcontroller" on my Traeger 075 and it does okay for basic low to mid-temperature stuff but I keep thinking I'll go to a Savannah Stoker or Ortech some day soon.  I guess I'm spoiled by having the Memphis available when I need good temperature regulation or low pellet consumption.  Keep us posted on how the new controller works.

I may have gotten the last of the Ortech tr100's there were just 7 left on Amazon and just did a search and nothing comes up for Ortech. Billy is suppose to let me know when his are ready and will probably get one. Other than some nice bells and whistles on the Ortech it is basically just like the Traeger controller. I don't see how it would hold better even though it seemed to at 180 deg. It only changes on the led's by 5 deg. increments so it could be swinging 8 deg. and you would not see it. I'll update as I use it more. Don

You will like that Ortech controller.  I put one on my Traeger Junior and it works like a
charm.  I did take advantage of the Monday Cyber deal at Cooking Pellets and just ordered
2 bags of Perfect Mix!
