At the Georgia cook out I ran my pellet pooper on high setting (first time I tried it) an boy did it get HOT so much so we had to tilt the lid so it would breath better. Well today I finally got the chance to fire up the pellet grill with the new 4 in exhaust stack on it and boy did it work great!
Although it was cold I was able to hit 449 temp in 20 min's on high and had no back pressure problems at all

It's left over from a 4 in stack that was going on an off road Jeep! Bret (the guy who help me build it) had some left over from a job and thought it would look better than just a black pipe! I agree :D :D :D :D

I'm enjoying watching this project evolve.
How do you think this mod will affect smoking temps? Do you think a pivoting vent cap will be needed?

Don't think it will hurt a thing, I have a cover coming for it so I can change the flow rate of exhaust from the cooker.
I just needed to fire it up be cause it been so long and was not sure what was going to happen with the new stack on it.

Banks may make an exhaust brake for it to slow down those runaway butts... :D

Tommy,
Just because you live near Huntsville doesn't mean you have to build a bigger, badder, better grill!! We know it's not rocket science, or is it?

No it ain't rocket science, just trying to make something that no one will build .
I talked to a few grill companies and no one would even give it the time of day :( So i had to do it myself and knowing what I do about the SRG I knew I could get where I needed to just need to fine tune it now ;)

Keep up the good work, Tommy. You are truly one of the LTBBQ "mad scientists"!
