A few here know I went through open heart surgery a few weeks back, had 5 by-passes performed ???
I went to the doctor about 2 months ago for a lump feeling in my throat and decided I better ask while I was there about a slight pain in my left shoulder and shortness of breath after climbing stairs. Turns out the best thing I could have done was ask about the pain and shortness of breath, turns out the lower part of my heart was pumping nothing I had two that were 100% blocked and a 90% blockage.
It's been 3 weeks and a few days since the surgery and I'm doing very well, I even feel like cooking again which before I really didn't want to do anything at all (very scary for me not to want to cook)
I had some issues with pain in my feet and that even has dropped a bit so I'm very happy with the surgery. BUT now I'm off the KETO diet and now on a LOW SODIUM DIET which is a challenge but do able. I'm trying to stay around the 1500 MG per day which is what the Heart Association is recommending for a LOW SODIUM diet and the doctor also recommends for now.
I have been able to stay under the 1500 mg per day but boy it's a bit harder than the LOW CARB keto I was doing.
I will post pictures and recipes in case there anyone who wants to do LOW SODIUM

Awesome Tommy! I am glad you are starting to feel "normal" again!

Hey, Tommy, glad to hear that you are getting back to normal. Your urge to start cooking again means that you are on the road to recovery. Keep improving and try to follow the doctor's advice on the low salt diet. We are glad that you are still with us.

Glad that you are on the mend! As we grow older we have to make adjustments that sometimes present challenges. But it is better than the alternative!

Glad you are getting better! Missed ya! Can't wait to see your new cooks!!!!

Tommy called me the other day while he was on one of his long walks. He sounded great. Really in great spirits. Glad you are back, brother!!

Here is just a quick meal. Only had about 150 mg of sodium. Basic spaghetti, no salt butter, olive oil and half chicken breast. Added a little DAK’s low sodium to it for flavor

Glad to hear that you are on the mend, Tommy, and thanks for sharing that great looking cook ! !

Hi Tommy,
Glad to hear you are on the mend! I'm very interested in the low sodium lifestyle. I started tracking all my food intake a few weeks ago, and boy was it an eye-opener how much sodium I'm ingesting. Keeping it below 1500 mg seemed impossible! The only way to do it, I'm learning, is to eliminate 90% of processed foods. It's amazing how much sodium is in an ounce of deli turkey or chicken, for example, and these are supposed to be the "healthy" meats, right?

Glad to hear you are doing better! My brother in law had open heart surgery to fix a valve and it really knocked him down for a good 3 months.
