Dinner will be wings, ABT’s and Potato salad. I am using the Old Smokey tonight with the Vortex.
Wings were marinated overnight in Mojo Carrillo then seasoned with Jallelujah Bacon Jalapeno and
Mo Rockin. Here they are circling the Vortex. I am using KBB and 1 chunk of cherry.

I am using my smaller rack that I got with my Smokenator for the ABT’s. I ran out of bacon so there
are a few without. I just used cream cheese, little smokies and bacon.

Wings were crispy, tender and very juicy. They had a very nice kick from the combination of rubs.
ABT's were the best ones so far that I have done. I am not sure if it was because of the Vortex or
the Old Smokey or a combination of both. Bacon was perfect!Capt. Jack is definitely correct when
he says the Old Smokey is a chicken machine! I will be using it the majority of the time with chicken
for now on!

It's a cone shaped charcoal holder. I will bring it to the Gathering and show how it works. I am not exactly sure
what it does better, but my chicken has gone up another step or two since I got it. I did a pork butt awhile back using
the Vortex and it was awesome! I also plan on bring my Old Smokey and my Jumbo Joe. I think we will have the Rec
Tec pellet grills so will probably leave the Junior at home. See you in a few weeks!

Here you go Pam! This is made of stainless steel. I bought it from Mad Hunky meats.
Direct Cooking: Fill up with one chimney, put chunk or a couple of chunks of wood directly above it on the grate.
Circle the Vortex with wings, etc.

Indirect Cooking: (Charcoal is set up around the outside of the Vortex using the snake method.
Put a pie pan in the middle to catch the drippings or use for water. Place meat directly over the center.

Beautiful!!! Nicely Done :P :P

Similar to a small gas grill - the Euro City Grill. It used an internal cone that could be open or focused like the Vortex. It actually worked quite well - still have one in the garage... ::) Just a bit small for every day use. Might have to try the cone in a larger grill... ::)
