Title: 18 oz. Ribeye on the cb-500
Post by: LostArrow on February 05, 2015, 10:25:22 AM
My small table top charcoal grill is the one I use most often.
Small fire on 1 end (20 or so briquittes, with a wood chunk.
Steak off fire for 20 minutes to get a smoke flavor, then seared for 5 min each side.
Wife & I shared!

I liken my ribeyes to weigh 1 &1/4 lb to 1 & 1/2 lb.
I like to smoke , then get a sear & it's hard with a thin steak!
I can't eat a gigantic steak anymore  ::)

I like the idea of the 20 minute smoke time prior to the sear cook. I have tried it with my Amazen smoke tube, but it doesn't seem to give me any smoke flavor. Steaks are still great, but may try it again to see if I can get that smoke hint.

Great looking steak. Reverse searing is a great way to go.

I can't handle the large steaks either anymore LA..... 8)

John, that is a deliciois looking steak. I'm gonna try the pre-smoke routine on my next rib eye. Thanks for putting that idea in my head.

That is a good looking steak! In my younger days I used to want my steaks at least 2 pounds, nowdays 18 ounces would be about right for me if I had a baked potato and a salad with it.
