Title: Been holding back on posting this (lot's of pictures)
Post by: TMB on April 27, 2015, 09:18:10 PM
Y'all that know me know I don't stand still long when it comes to grills  ;)  I started a NEW pizza oven idea an here it is.
I took the idea from Ahron's rocket stove and with a twist I'm going to attempt to turn it into a pizza oven ;)

So after taking a bunch of pictures and trying to figure which ones to use for this post.  So bare with me and keep an eye out cause I hope to have it up and test temps very soon.

I used a 4x4 inch squared steel pipe and joined to a 5x3 inch base for (as the burner)  Keep in mind this is the first time I tried this and to add to the stress level I want it to burn pellets  :)

OK, enough chit-chat here is the start of what I hope is the beginning of a very good pizza oven build

First, a big thanks to my brother in-law JT for helping.  My knees just won't let me do to much anymore :(

Now it's close to start testing but needs a few more things, but in the mean time I need to build a pellet basket

Here it is sitting in a test part of the pipe I used. You can get an idea of how it will look in the pipe when installed

Stand back when Tommy gets an idea boiling in his brain!!  This ought to be good.  We all sensed something was in the works at the Fall Gathering.  He was "playing with" measurements and some air flow ideas on the Uuni's that were being used to make pizza.  I'll keep watching.  If I ever decide to build an outdoor kitchen, they may her one of the "toys" to install.

Good luck, Tommy.

Well just an update, got the stove welded and tried the basket out.  Worked ok but only had a few mins of burn time but was able to hit 385 before shutting it down for the night

(http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt326/TMBs/IMG_0557_zpswtyfws0r.jpg) (http://s624.photobucket.com/user/TMBs/media/IMG_0557_zpswtyfws0r.jpg.html)

Here it is after 5 mins of burning time.  Can't wait to do a full burm

Stay tuned

Well got to run a full test and it didn't get as hot as I need it to :'( :'(   Could not get past 390 but I think I know why

First here are a few pictures of the basket finished
 (http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt326/TMBs/brisket/IMG_0577_zpslwmpzkg7.jpg) (http://s624.photobucket.com/user/TMBs/media/brisket/IMG_0577_zpslwmpzkg7.jpg.html)
Here is the handle and basket sitting in the intake
(http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt326/TMBs/brisket/IMG_0579_zpscvmfo2yh.jpg) (http://s624.photobucket.com/user/TMBs/media/brisket/IMG_0579_zpscvmfo2yh.jpg.html)
And here it is loaded and ready to go in
(http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt326/TMBs/brisket/IMG_0582_zpsmjpe2lc7.jpg) (http://s624.photobucket.com/user/TMBs/media/brisket/IMG_0582_zpsmjpe2lc7.jpg.html)
Here is the reason why it's not hoot enough. The intake side is way to short (red arrow) so now I need to add another 8 in's of length to it so it can get a better draw
 (http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt326/TMBs/brisket/IMG_0503_zpsskc4ah8m.jpg) (http://s624.photobucket.com/user/TMBs/media/brisket/IMG_0503_zpsskc4ah8m.jpg.html)

Should get it done soon and get this thing cooking

Tommy the drafting on the Uuni 2 is created by the large stack. As the heated air rises thru the stack the drafting is created.

Just giving you some ideas on where to create your air movement.

Unless you induce air into the fire from a fan like the first Uuni did.

I can increase the stack by another 6 to 8 in's if need be, just have to get time to set the cooker base on it and make a stand so I know how much room I'll have

Remember Muebe, this is all new to me I never built a rocket stove so I'm learning as I go
