Title: New 25 year old grill
Post by: LostArrow on September 12, 2015, 05:12:58 PM
Found a Broil-King portal chef made in 1990 :o
Cost $30 with a full 20 lb tank included ::)
Cast aluminum firebox great shape , grates fine , burner ok! detachable legs great.
Igniter & electrode needs replacing of course .
Cooker actually uses ceramic bricks , not best for a portable grill?
Ordered a SS flavorizer plate that they started putting in this model in 1995.

Heck, the propane makes it worth it.

I love classics - radios, speakers, cars, grills. AND Sliding Billy is right - heck the propane and tank paid for it... :)

Re-Hab finished!
A little simple green , a steel wool pad , couple coats of high heat enamel I already had completed the outside. New ignigtor & electrode & replacing the lava rocks with a SS heat shield & im good to go 8)

LA, great job on the restoration. Where did you get the SS heat shield? I am in need of one for my CharBroil gasser.

CLA grill parts online.
One reasons I'm sticking to weber or broil ate to work on is you can get OEM parts for
20 y/o long discontinued models

Looks like it just came out of the box about six months ago.  Just barely broken in.

Looks super good buddy.  Heh, LA.  My wife wants a gas grill.  She doesn't want a weber q.  We got that at the cabin and she doesn't like it.  What gas grill do you suggest?. I told her charcoal is better but she wants her own gas grill so she can walk out and fire it up to cook steaks, dogs and burgers.  What say you LA?
