Title: I won a 22.5 Weber Smokey Mountain!
Post by: MossyMO on October 20, 2012, 11:37:48 AM
I got an email from the Sting Killer Facebook page telling me I won a 22.5 WSM! I replied and they got back to me saying I should have it in a week or two; we'll see... I have been quietly wanting one for a while now and am very excited!

I have plenty of experience grilling and smoking off offsets, Weber kettles, pellet grills etc. but have never used a WSM... what should my first cook be? Any tips or suggestions on firing it up the first time would be appreciated!

that is so cool marty.  i love mine.  so easy to use.  you don't need any electric device to make it work.  mine hold temps for hours and it don't to a thing to it.  congrats marty.  going to have to go out and buy some more kingsford.  my wife let me buy 300 lbs last week.  should be good for a while.

The Smokey Mountain has the most mods done to it, yet it cooks perfectly out of the box!!

Since you have the 22.5, these handles look sweet on it and make removing the middle section extremely easy::

Thanks all, I even appreciate the offer to forward it to North Carolina!

going to have to go out and buy some more kingsford.

I'm a Stubb's charcoal fan, 2 years ago I found it on sale and still have a few more years worth left!

Foil the pan don't worry about water.
Works fine with briquittes or lump.
Bury wood chunks in charcoal, light 15-20 briquittes.
I close 2 back vents & keep front open to easily adjust ( about 2/3 open)
Keep top vent 2/3 open & adjust from there. New ones run a little hot may have to reset after a few cooks
