Title: Ribeyes on the Summit!
Post by: Baby Back Maniac on June 10, 2016, 09:53:32 PM
I'm not sure where to post this exactly because even though Weber doesn't call the Summit a kamado...that's exactly what it is. I'm new here so if this isn't right, I apologize. :-)

This cook was a test. I wanted to see which one my wife likes better. On the left, S&P only. On the right, S&P plus garlic. I also tried a tip I got from John at the KJ channel about using a little cayenne pepper (...which he got from one of Adam Perry Lang's books.)

This picture makes me laugh...it looks like the cover of a Weber cookbook or something. :-)

I didn't know if my wife would like it because she's not a huge heat fan, but it turns out it wasn't hot and she LOVED it...much better than the S&P by itself.

I apologize but I don't have any final picks. I was experimenting with the camera when I took these. The sun was really bright out and I didn't realize the pictures turned out good enough to share until AFTER we had already done our taste tests. Sorry to leave you hanging. lol.

That looks yummy.  Can I come over?

But the cooking of steaks, kinda reminds me of the time we had family over when I was in college as an undergraduate.  I do like from time to time a blackened version.  Go liberal on the white pepper, red pepper (cayenne), black pepper, garlic, and thyme, and cumin.  On a grill this combo can be wonderful, but be careful, it can get hot.  Make sure the cooking does not touch milder products lest the heat gets to that food.  My mom broiled the steaks and mine was done in a separate pan.  On cleanup my aunt was helping mom in the kitchen.  She tasted the grease, then promptly drank several glasses of water then yelled for me.  She accused me of eating fire and faking them out at the table by acting like it wasn't hot.  By this time both I and my mother were laughing.
