Title: 2016 Thanksgiving Day Meal
Post by: Smokin Don on November 24, 2016, 09:29:36 PM
Nov 24 2016

Our daughter is home for the weekend and I am fixing our family dinner tomorrow. For tonight I fixed a Lipton onion soup meatloaf and potatoes; I used beefy for the meatloaf and original for the potatoes. The potato recipe is on the back of the onion soup box and you can get both recipes on Lipton’s site. For the lack of any other veggie I did peas in country gravy. I am having ham tomorrow and the meatloaf for anyone who doesn’t want ham.

I did the meatloaf on my Traeger pellet grill, It was in a little over 1 ½ hours at 300 deg. It was done a little early but held nice in the microwave. I did the potatoes in my oven at 380 deg. convection and was done in 35 minutes.  I made the gravy stovetop and added a bag of frozen peas. We had toasted English muffins with the meal.

Tasted good, I have other meatloaf recipes I like better than the Lipton’s but the wife and daughter loved it and had seconds. I liked the potatoes, thanks Art for telling me to look on the back of the box! :) :)

Hope all are having some good food and a fun and safe weekend with family!

Ummm, Don, I don't know quite how to say this properly.  Don't want to give the wrong impression.  Please know that I'm searching carefully for words here and don't want to offend one of my favorite LTBBQ posters, but . . .

It looks to me, from the pictures, that all of the GRAVY wound up around the peas.  We have folks on the forum with very strong opinions on peas but that isn't the issue.  As usual, you've whipped up some fine lookin' groceries and I'm with you all the way but . . .

I did some research on the pea/gravy relationship and came up with this:   http://www.food.com/recipe/white-gravy-sauce-with-peas-390832

So, I am left with the burning question -- with what did you "moisturize" the meatloaf?  Maybe you (later) topped the meatloaf with the pea concoction?  I really hate to call a "gravy foul" here but I'm getting dizzy from shaking my head looking at your plate  ;)

(hope you understand I'm just woofin'  ;D)

Looks good Don! I'd love a plate! :P

Back to the gravy/peas....
According to parliamentary rules, since Mr Hub brought this matter to the floor, he shall lead the discussion on subject matter. ::)

Hey all, creamed peas is a common dish around these parts made with a white sauce! I like country gravy better than the white sauce and using a packet from Pioneer it's easy to make!!! There were some peas and gravy on a fork with some meatloaf too! That's my story!!! :) :) :) Don

I think the reason so many people don't like peas on this site is because they forget to eat them with their pinky up. I agree on the gravy but Ketchup will do it for me
