Yes - interesting, but my initial thinking is: "How counter-intuitive..." :D Of course - without actually inspecting it, it makes me wonder what CharBroil is doing with that location of the vent.....Might be interesting.

Cooler air is heavier so I believe having the bottom air intake at the table level will still work. Nice idea so instead having to bend down to adjust.

Just don't spill your beer into it :P

I would love to find one out in a store to look at it closer.  Not sure I'd buy one but would give it a good look for the $$

As for mods  ;) there would be something done to it  :D :D :D :D :D

On the outside it looks a lot like my Akorn.  Howsomever, the charcoal bucket idea AND the vent system are both unique.

Webpage says it is out of stock.

I'll try to find a video that shows how it works.

Since there are not a lot of reviews or information about this grill yet I thought I would post my first impressions and my thoughts after using this grill.

For the benefit of everyone I would recommend to steer clear of this one! The single major flaw is the intake and the plastic tube that connects to it. The fit of these plastic parts was so poor on mine that it leaked enough air to never allow for control of the temperatures. Even fully closed the temps would continue to rise out of control.

I ended up having to seal it with high temp sealer. It was night and day how much control I then had. However, if I want to grill some steaks and get the grill to searing temperatures I would be very concerned about how the plastic would hold up. When I stoked it up to search off some steaks the bottom of the grill was very hot where the plastic vent pipe connects to the bottom of the grill.  I ended up using my trusty Weber kettle grill the next night.

I contacted CharBroil but their customer support was the worst. The person even argued with me over the serial number. I read it exactly as it was on the label and she told me that was not a serial number.  I had to send a picture of it to them!

Bottom line, learn from me and save the 300.00.

I think with the other options that are available this one is not worth the price or the time.

Thanks and I will take to heart what you said and drop any notion of buying this.

I am surprised about their customer service...they have always been know for low end Chinese crap but their customer service has always been stellar....sorry to hear about this............

I would call and try again. You might get another agent.  My old CB940X lid did not fit and they ended up giving me a partial credit...............

..........worth a shot.............

I am going to continue to push the issue for everyone else's benefit. I tried to explain that it's the design and third material choice that's the issue. It's not that they can do anything about mine but they could change the intake parts so the fit better for others.  I think I just got a poor customer service person.  She kept telling me to look at things like burners and gas valves. I think she was simply unaware of this new product.

I also went and registered the product online using the serial number I provided to her and it went right through. Lol... So we will see what happens next. The wife said it would make a nice planter for an herb garden.

That's sad but CR has been steadily worse over the years :(    I called them on a Grill2Go grill and they never "Heard" of the issues I had yet re shearch my issue and you find others who have the same problem. All I got was you need to "BUY" another part.

Really??   I'm going to buy parts for a grill that has not worked correctly since new?    Seems CB has gone down hill fast since they hired the new lady that ran Tubber Ware for their advertising/markiting    (Who'm by the way has never cooked on a grill)  ??? ??? ??? ???

CB Martin was correct when he told me they will start becoming more SHOW than performance grills
