Title: Texas Sized T-Bones
Post by: smokeasaurus on February 04, 2018, 10:05:55 AM
We like to make the hour drive to Bryan/College Station once a month for grocery shopping. We have found that the larger HEB markets there have more family packs and special deals. So we go there to stock up on meat.

I was pondering a couple of rib eyes when Wendy called me over and showed me these packs of beautiful T-Bones.

I swear I thought there were three in a pack. We get home and there were only two and those suckers were big.

Got em rubbed down with Gundpowder and believe it or not they filled up an oven tray

The PK couldn't handle these so I uncovered our large All System Feeders pit
Grilled em in the one compartment and let them kick back in some indirect heat for a bit

Wendy sauteed some shrooms and as you can see there was no room on the plate for taters or veggies.......

My kinda steak

They sure look good!!  Since we will be around College Station in April, I better bring my cooler to bring a few of those home with me.

HEB does carry better beef than Kroger or Wally World, that's for sure.  Nice work!

They might call them T-Bones but they look like some nice sized Porterhouse's to me. I will take one no matter what you call them  :P :P :P

Funny you mention that. I was telling Wendy between beefy mouthfuls that these were way more like Porters. The Tenderloin section was really nice sized.

I should have bought more. They were only about 8 bucks a piece.

I was getting ready to say the same thing.  My local grocer puts them on sale from time to time and I jump on them quite a lot.

Those look as good as any I can get locally.

That looks good, I'd eat that! We are lucky, in Malvern, Al about 12 miles from us we have a wonderful fresh produce market and next door there is an honest to God old style butcher. You walk in and there are all these big pretty meats in the cooler. You tell them what meat you want and how you want it cut and they cut and wrap it right in front of you. They cut your steaks, pork chops or stuff you some sausages. A and you can eat all the boiled peanuts you want while you wait.

Big slice of awesomeness...

It's hard for me to finish of an 8 oz rib eye, but I'd like to get a start on that monster.
