Over the years I've done a lot of BBQ and grilling using a boat load of different equipment... ceramic cookers, WSMs, Cookshacks, Masterbuilts and various gassers to name a few. I've even done some open pit BBQ.
I'm getting something new for "BBQ Central"... A Yoder YS 640 pellet cooker.
Are there any other pellet cookers on or near Cape Cod so we could possibly order pellets in bulk and save some $$.
Also if anyone has any tips, techniques or recipes for pellet cooker I'd love to look at them.
Thanks for your help.

Congrats on the Yoder. I got the YS-480 from Eric over at Simi Pellet Grills and I aint looking back.
Did you order yours with the second shelf or a Thermometer?

Can anyone tell me the estimated pellet usage for smoking and grilling... something like how many # per hour cooking time or something like that.
I just want to be sure I have sufficient pellets on hand.
Thanks!

Can't speak about the Yoders, but I average 1 lb/hour on my MAK & Traeger in the cold temps.

Yoders consume more pellets than others because of the mass of the grill. I find the 640 to burn about 2 lbs an hour at 240 and 4+ above 300.

And...burn rate will vary based on outdoor temp. and wind. it really does.
The thicker steel on the Yoders do require more BTU to warm up - then, they should level off once the steel is hot.
Something to consider: They are still cheaper to operate than a charcoal gril, at current cost of charcoal and comparative BTU output. I have seen the numbers - but cannot find them at the moment, but the pellets are more "energy dense" than charcoal. A significant difference too.
