I used to suggest soaking wood chips before using them but I've learned and changed my ways! For years it was generally accepted to soak wood chips before using but now the trend is moving away from that and just using dry chips.
From my albeit unscienitific testing I've found soaked wood chips produce steam, not smoke.
That being said, you can't go wrong using something like the Amazing tube with BBQrs Delight pellets... I have a couple of them and use them a lot for cold and hot smoking. They even work well with a stick burner or pellet cooker.
My website needs a lot of work but I just don't have the time to constantly update it plus FrontPage is no longer available so I have to make any changes on my old -- very old -- computer that has the program on it.
