Pellet tube smoker on one end , 1 burner on other end.

That is seasoning, thermal protection, and flavor! Don't clean it ;)

They cooked 4 hours on indirect & finished on direct heat.
Mild smoke flavor , & very tasty.

Sav is correct!
My grates were porceloin coated cast iron , but after 7 years the coating started coming off ???
Now in the process of seasoning the grates, simple spraying of canola not enough.

We do ribs in a gasser at my moms house. As stated above, you don't get the flavor,  but you can get the tenderness  you want by cooking them in indirect heat  and also foiling just like you would in any other type of cooker.

A couple of my buddies who don't have smokers have asked how to do them on their gasser. I need to try it out and see what happens.

A maze sawdust or a tube pellet smoker work so much better than "smoker box"!
As to which one is best it probably is whether a tube or a square fits best beneath the grates of their grill.
