Over a wood fire in 5 easy steps.
1. Put dog on stick and spiral cut. Place over open fire with Oak or your fav hard wood.

I remember over on SOTG, Kimmie was cooking some pretty good looking grub for ya......give her some tongs and point her to the SRG.... ;) She is more than capable to do some spiral dogs.
Don't feel bad Kimmie, Smoke has faith in ya :)

Nice wiener Rick! ;)

Good looking dog. I love the open fire!

Looks good! Here lately, instead if dogs, I like to use Brats. (Not spiral cut of course :) )

Pretty cool, seein' this post THIS weekend...Deb and I had spiral dogs for lunch on Saturday. I used the skewer to hold the dogs while I cut 'em, then took 'em off the skewer to cook 'em on the gasser IR. It helps because the dogs expand as they cook and more of the inside gets browned or charred. It fills the bun and holds the mustard and ketchup (catsup) in place.
B T W - I invented the "spiral dog"...
no I didn't...I saw it on SOTG last year and then watched the video

The spirialing of the dog opens more surface area to increase a place for the toppings thereby adding more flavor. Wrapping in bacon helps also. Dee
