Title: Oakridge BBQ drumstick fest
Post by: squirtthecat on February 12, 2012, 05:51:04 PM
MrsSTC's kids want a 'chicken leg' party, so they are going to get one for Valentine's day.  (they were 77 cents/lb last week - couldn't pass it up)

Broke out my Oakridge BBQ samplers.   I had a little bit of Williams left over, so I mixed them all together 'dumpster' style.

Add 44 chicken legs and some Garlic PAM.   Spritz/Sprinkle/Flip/Rinse/Repeat.

Onto the MAK for some smoke, them up to 285°.

Almost there..

And done.  43 tasty little treats.    No, I didn't sample one, one rolled off the grill when I was flipping them.  >:(

Cooled them in pans for a while, and then filled a 2 gallon ziplock bag.   Will need to get the roaster oven down for this load..

Always been a lag - and thigh- man myself! Love the look of those Squirt. The oakridge rubs are good...but, they are all very similar in smell and somewhat in taste to me...You too?
So - I suppose when you mix them, it was a good blend because of the similarity...?

Yep!   Very similar flavors, so I just tossed them all in a container and shake/shake/shake/shake.  Turned out pretty good.

I would have used some of your Chicken Savor, but those red pepper flakes are a bit too much for little kids...   ;)

I'll pick up a veggie and fruit tray at Sam's to go with it..

Those 15 kids are going to eat well indeed!   (the faculty gets the rest)

Haven't had legs in a long spell...gonna have to do some soon..hope they come out as nice as yours. I got the Oakridge sampler around the same time I got some Penzeys samples. IMHO the Penzeys spices are far superior to the Oakridge..........
