Hello fellow BBQ brothers and sisters!
My name is Marcel but im an American from Florida living in Paris France.
Im an all around BBQ fan living the miller high life in a country that doesn’t really support BBQs (im working to change that!)
My main tool is an Offset smoker as well as a Weber Q240, like that song goes, its electric.
Hope to share and gain some knowledge with all of you!
Marcel

Marcel the French and their love for pork are prime for American style BBQ...of course, you may want to let them believe it is French in origin somehow in order to get past some resistance :D...
But, seriously - a member here ( Hub ) is a KCBS judge that may be able to get you some info on the expansion of KCBS BBQ competitions and education into western Europe. I know they have been working with some folks in Germany, so there may be some program that is interesting.... ;)
Great to have you here. You will see near the bottom of the page that we have a Charcuterie section - and some members that really get into all thing "preserved meats".
Looking forward to your input here!

Welcome! As Tim said, I'm the guy that has done some of the "homework" used by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (world's largest barbeque contest sanctioning body) to "spread the gospel" into Europe. Cook teams and judges have been trained in Germany, Holland, and Great Brittain and the genre is enjoying some modest success. I'm told that about half the crowd that turns out for European contests is American ex pats longing for a taste of home.
France would be tough to get "on the radar" mostly due to French resistance to "foreign" cuisine, I would think based on my travels there (business road warrior for 20+ years). However, if you would like to volunteer to assist with any further spade work just let me know and I'll get a current read on the situation for you.

Hello Hub, thanks for the welcome.
I hear you brother, French resistance to "foreign" cuisine is a huge issue but I find that most time when I break out some pulled pork for lunch at work you can see their heads pop up. There was a BBQ competition in the south (http://www.bbqfestival.fr/championnat-france-barbecue/) but its NO WHERE near the KCBS league. I am always looking for a way to BBQ and share the BBQ experience here. If you hear anything going on in Europe I would love a shout! Even if its not specifically France (folks travel all around America for competitions) that would be much appreciated!

Welcome from Minnesota. Paris is a place that is on my bucket list!! I love French food made here in America, so i can only imagine how good the food is in its native land. Yes, we need to introduce the people in Europe to American BBQ, one smoke at a time :).

You will be pleased to know that is underway thru the KCBS. They are currently trying to organize in Germany. I believe the Wing Commander...and someone else here are involved in it, IIRC.....

Errr no, I am not. Not yet. But I'm quite interested. Two weeks ago we were talking about organizing a competition in KCBS style at a local Tex Mex Festival for next year.
There are more and more competition teams that are interested in the KCBS system here. Not only in Germany, but in whole Europe.
If here's someone who might help to get us into business here in Germany, please let me know/PM me.
