Title: It is not wood but it not charcoal either
Post by: africanmeat on August 26, 2013, 10:04:38 AM
A business associate of mine started a new venture . he takes the Stems ,the skin ,and the pips that is left from the grapes after  it is pressed for wine .,
Through process of heat and pressure he makes wood blocks .i got few bags of this blocks  to try. and my first was to smoke a chicken ,and do  lamb kebabs .
the smell was great like wine ,and the coal was good and strong for few hours .

How long did it last - comparable to wood or charcoal?
Sounds interesting - and that was a very nice looking cook!

Food looks great.  Interested to find out how it will serve as a low and slow fuel.

Thanks guys
i did not Measures the heat but it feel like it is hotter,it lasted  longer than the normal charcoal . i lit it  with firelighter , it takes  longer to start but it takes longer to die too .
it has a light smoke with a sweetish aroma .

That is really cool Ahron!

And the food looks great.

Is the cost more or less than charcoal?
