Title: Grilling Pork Chops on the Kettle
Post by: veryolddog on August 26, 2013, 09:13:12 PM
This morning the pork chops in the fridge were thawed and I decided to brine them in Mad Hunky Pork Brine. This is the first time that I have used this product and I thought I would use this as a test for a 5 lb. pork loin that I have in the freezer. So I measured out the correct amount and put these chops into a pint of water, stirred it together and poured it into a zip lock zipper bag with the pork chops. This was completed at 9:00 AM in the morning. At 5:00 PM, I removed the chops and poured out the brine. So they were in the brine for 8 hours.

I wanted to served something sweet with the chops so I retrieved a sweet potato. Then I we need a vegetable so I brought out some Hatch Chilis, sweet onions, bello mushrooms and decided to make a side dish.

You can see all of this come together in the video.

Thanks for watching,

Ed

great idea w/ the 18" WSM ring.  you could use your coal trays to contain your coals also.

Nice job, Ed. You're really getting the hang of this video thing! I like the idea of the WSM ring in your kettle - will have to try that.

Just to let you guys know, that I ordered that ring on Amazon.com and the cost was $33.99. It was shipped by Ed Young True Value and arrived in 4 days since it was not "Prime". I always check Amazon before I buy anything.

What do you use for video editing?

Thanks.

I recently purchased Corel VideoStudio ProX6. They offer an "Ultimate" version which I should have bought for the extra functions. When I really master this one, I can upgrade.

This is a very powerful product. It took me a couple of days, maybe a total of 8 hours, to practice, play, test, and read the functionality why I was experimenting to really learn the product. I looked up video editing tools on the net and asked for the top 10. This was rated number 2. However, it was rated very high in ease of use. What I value in a technology product is its ability to be intuitive without a lot of research. I think that this product meets that requirement but you must do a lot of reading while you are experimenting. After that, the process is mechanical and fairly simple. I am still learning. I am trying to find more music options.

I use a very cheap camera - Samsung 300X. It fits in my pocket and I can carry it anywhere. I have a little tri pod for it for $9.95 at Best Buy. I bought the camera from Dell on sale. In side my house, there is a preponderance of florescent light. (It is a new built energy efficient home and it really is. If you saw my electric bill, you would be amazed especially here in Texas and the heat.) The color of the video is not true. My wife's counters are white with black speckle and not yellow. Even outside, the yellow becomes dominant. I am now investigating a more sophisticated camcorder like the Canon with internal WiFi. I use to record every hike and fishing experience that my wife and I had taken and now I am doing this with my grand son and what he is involved in. Unfortunately, I can't freakin walk anywhere, anymore until I get fixed.

Just a note, Mike, here's that website:  http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
