Title: Standing Rib Roast
Post by: Old Hickory on November 23, 2013, 03:42:32 PM
It's Thanksgiving week at our home with family and friends coming bye so we do multiple cooks.  This is the first and one of my fav's.  The leftovers ( if any ) are always great.  Costco had some beauties at $10.00/# so my wife picked this one.  It was choice, but the marbling looked prime.

With this roast I like the simple seasonings.

Rubbed with OO then garlic salt and coarse black pepper.  Now it's time to cover and into the refer overnight and cook tomorrow.

That pepper rub is perfect!  I like to do roasts like that when my boys come home for Christmas, which thankfully they both will be able to do this year  :)

It is easy to embed any image from just about any location.  Just right click an image you want to embed and copy the URL to your clipboard (the URL is the location you see in your browser, e.g., www.letstalkbbq.com).  Highlight the address in your browser and hold the CTRL key while simultaneously pressing "V".

Next, click the IMG button in the post tool bar (second row, far left) and then paste the clipboard contents (hold the CTRL key and press V).

Nice appetizer..too cute..I just take a boconchini and a cherry tomato and wrap a basil leave around them and skewer them together..this is much cuter.
The prime rib looks perfect. Can't wait to see how it comes out. Love me some prime rib. Pam   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ

That looks so juicy and tasty!  Our family tradition is to do standing rib for Christmas - planning to do a big one this year because both our sons will be with us this year - think I'll use your method

I used Hickory for 1 hr. for just a kiss of smoke flavor.  I didn't want anything to compete with the taste of the meat.

THANKS to everyone for your kind comments.

I asked IR2Dum why it was called a "standing rib roast" and he told me only those that come from a cow that was killed while standing could be called that.  Is that right? Dee

Completely wrong Dee.

They call it that if you are standing the entire time during cooking 8)

Good thing I am here or you would sound dumb :P
