Title: Retro Grilling
Post by: smokeasaurus on April 21, 2012, 04:40:04 PM
So what do you do when your Quality Grill has suffered a unfortunate mishap when it was at a buds parents house and you have to send it back to the mfg (on my buds dime) for repair and some enhancements(on my dime) and you want to get your Kingsford on ?????

You use the built in fireplace grill that was built on my Parents house back in 1948..that is what you do!!! All my grilled food I chomped on back in the late 60's and early '70s was cooked in there by my Pops!! It was the "Cats Meow" way back in the day!!!!  8)

Gotta find my Bing,Frank.Dean,Nat,Ella,Pat,Percy,Perry 33 1/3 records out of storage!!!!!    8)

Got her covered up taking a rest............it just isn't that good of a grill...you would think adding a coal tray to the smoker box and that would be that....but it didn't work out that way..........gonna use her for brisket/butt cooks due to fuel usage.....

The problem with that lighter fluid is that the can says it's odorless.  I love that lighter fluid smell.  It reminds me of cookouts when I was a kid.

if you learn to control the heat you can do any type  food in this oven .
it is like  normal oven only with a lot of flavor and great small.
i can pm you the basics of wood fire cocking or i will do a post on it ?

Smoke, you're right about one thing, that pit/grill is indeed the cat's meow!.  Man I wish I had one of those at my house, and the chops turned out great.

I remember back in the day if you were young they would make you a "Shirley Temple" or a "Tom Collins" so you wouldn't feel left out while your parents were getting "stoned"...........
