Hot as heck up in the northwest these days...
« Reply #-1 on: August 03, 2014, 12:01:18 AM »
... so why not something cool and refreshing.  Here's the cure for unbearable temperatures: mojito.  Nothing special, but some of the ingredients are to us.

  • My wife grows the mint in the front yard (and everywhere else  ;D )
  • We're on a well that draws water from 220 feet down - slightly mineral and tastes like spring water - we carbonate it ourselves for cocktails
  • The lime and mint are freshly muddled and she uses bakers sugar because it dissolves so easily

This has been one of the coolest (at least my Texas standards) summers we have seen around here, but it is still hot enough for a few of those.

In Alabama we have made it all the way to August without any 100 degree days so it is a little cooler summer than usual.  We are actually having a "cool snap" the last week or so with high temps only getting into the 80's several days in a row. The "cooler" weather hasn't slowed down my drinking cold beers though.

My favorite drink. Had 5 or 6 pitchers already this year. Even got a strain of Mojito mint growing.
