First GB jerky on my Camp Chef DLX with jerky rack
« Reply #-1 on: September 12, 2014, 11:36:09 PM »
Finally got some time to try out the DLX with my new jerky rack. Mixed up 5lbs 90/10 GB using Hi Country mountain man seasoning.

rolled it out

only need 2 racks

lo smoke setting is perfect for jerky

puts out a lot of smoke

smoked it for 4 hours before moving it to finish in the dehydrator

the DLX kept a good steady temp between 150 and low 160's

done. This isn't all of it. The family almost ate it all before I thought to take a picture.

I think next time I will only smoke it for 2 hours before moving it to the dehydrator. It had a little too much smoke on it for my taste but it was still good and it was even better a few days later after the smoke mellowed a bit. Overall very happy with the DLX and the jerky rack performance.

Yeah four hours of smoke sounds like a bit much for jerky but your finished product looks great!

One of the most common complaints I see about pellet grills is "not enough smoke flavor". I didn't think a pellet grill could lay down that much smoke but the Camp Chef sure can.
