Look what I found, WTH!!
« Reply #-1 on: July 08, 2012, 09:45:58 AM »
:o So I asked to make sure I wouldn't be out of line posting this. I got the ok.
I was strolling thru my local Academy this time and look what I see.

Take a closer look

Looks like someone is switching the Traeger thermometers for non-branded ones. This one was $100 cheaper then the one up the road 30 minutes.

They are also selling these. Does the slogan sound familiar

Now, the interior on closer look. The
Racks were porcelain covered.  Just some young kids working last night that didn't know anything about anything; I asked how it worked ;)

Yeah, same one as the other academy store I was at. I was the exact same one other then the Traeger thermometer that was on it.

For someone looking to get into pellet smoking this is a fantastic deal!

I paid $325 for my Traeger junior brand new and it only had a 3 way controller. That one is just a little more and has a 180F Ortech controller installed!

Leave the legs off, and that would make a great little tailgater/camping grill!

The Ortech is a far better controller than the OEM Traeger.

Well since the cat is out of the bag, when we got those pellet grills in at Academy we got an email telling us to take out the thermometer that came in the box with the grill and to replace it with a generic thermometer we sell. When we opened the first box I found the Traeger thermometer inside. Outdoor Gourmet is Academy's store brand and they have different companies build grills and brand it with their brand name. It looks like a good pellet grill but we haven't sold any yet. I am wanting one but divorce lawyers are too costly.

$399 with the Ortech controller is a steal! I would pick one up for backup to my 070 if we had Academy in Ca. What a great way for some folks to get there feet wet in pellet cooking without breaking the bank.
