El Smoochy makes a fattie....Latin style
« Reply #-1 on: July 21, 2012, 01:36:38 PM »
So you wake up on a Saturday and you want barbeque. But guess who rides into town hankerin for some Mexican food?

You guessed it....El Smoochy!!

So we agree on doing a fattie with a Latin twist!!
The obligatory weave double wide!!

Seasoned up some ground chuck with Miners Mix Chorizo and Asada seasoning

Laid the beef down on the obligatory double wide bacon weave

Mixed some ranchera cheese with white onion and cilantro and sprinked on some salsa verde

All wrapped up weighing in over 6 lbs and 17 inches long!! Time for me and El Smoochy to have a root beer(El Smoochy is only 12 anos!!)

See you all later when I fire up the Weber Kettle!!

Oh well, you win some and you lose some. I usually will make -2- fatties but since I was using the kettle I opted for a bigger one so I overlapped two strips of bacon for the extra length and width. The weave fell open and the ground beef and cheese rolled out into the char-baskets.

McDonalds anyone??   >:( :(

It happens to the best of us, no biggie. The fatty looked great though , and the flavor profile you were trying to accomplish was off the charts. Next time my brotha.

Yeah, that does suck.

You have to either stagger the overlap or overlap it quite a bit.  Don't ask me how I know...  ::)

Was the rest of it any good? I sure did like the flavors you had going on there.

Nothing was salvageable. The weave fell off the top right over the coals...you guessed it.....flame city........but that All American Combo that Jack in the Box has going right now is a nice bargain!!  ::)
