Any users of the KEG?
« Reply #-1 on: November 14, 2014, 11:18:43 PM »
I saw this at the local ACE Hardware and it piqued my interest.  I was wondering if anyone has  or had experience with it and how it compared with the ceramic Kamado grills.   This is double walled steel with insulation.  Once or twice a year I get the itch for another outdoor cooking something or other. In the spring, I start looking at baseball gloves.  At 64, my wife say no to both. But still.............

Looks very similar to a BSK. Did they have one put together that you could touch? How was the build quality?

Here is a link to the review. It actually started out as the Bubba Keg, then the Big Steel Keg.

At a bar I vis in NOLA , their was a pop up BBQ place adjacent.
They cooked all their meat on 4 of these. Ran them all day everyday!
Think of it as a higher end chargriller kamado.
As apposed to ceramic this is just a insulated verticle cooker, what its made of has no effect on the taste of the food!

muebe - Looked very solid. No lid wobble, no stand wobble. Grate very substantial. Gave the keg a couple of knuckle thumps and it sounds solid.  Vents moved firmly yet smoothly.  Nice looking unit.

It's a little bit more than the Vision that my son-in-law cooks on, but I think I would put up the difference.

Only drank from one...well many actually. But kidding aside I think most people who have them like them. And first to introduce the tailgater hitch mount so props there.
