Pork Roast......Nothing Fancy
« Reply #-1 on: November 30, 2014, 06:22:15 PM »
Wife got me a A-Maze-N Smoke Tube for my birthday (isn't till Friday but it was a nice day so she let me play with it early), wasn't sure what to cook so I rooted through the freezer and found a package labeled "Boneless Pork Roast". I am no butcher by any means so I have no clue what kind of roast it is/was.

I didn't do anything fancy with it at all, just gave it my normal coat of Olive Oil, then sprinkled it with Tatonka Dust.

Sitting on the counter waiting on grill to come to temp

Going in

Internal Temp at 155 after 4hrs, cranked the heat to 275 to finish it off

Finally done and ready to eat

Decided to cut it in half to see how the smoke was in the middle

Didn't get any pics after it was sliced up, the kids were eating it as fast as I was slicing it. They did save me enough for 2 sammies though.......lol

Looks like you got a half a pork loin there, very tasty ! ! !

Agree with 145°, especially if you're going to crust it up.

Regardless, yours looks really moist !!

Thanks for the positive comments, I am still figuring this pellet grill out. Have only had it a few months.

I was originally going to make pulled pork, but what little did I know that wouldn't pull at all. So we sliced it up. It was moist, but there wasnt the juice I normally like. The wife and kids loved it, so thats the important part.  :D

I will definitely give it a go at 145, I have doing 160 for sliced pork.

I think I should not have said "pull the pork at 145". I use that temp only for chops and sliced pork. Pulled pork is an entirely different deal.

Great looking pork roast! I also cook pork, except butt, to 145. Safe and very juicy at that temp.

Here's another vote for pulling at 145°, but honestly, what you did looks great! And if your family liked it, how can you argue with that? :)

Looks great!!! and I agree too on the 145 for boneless pork loins. I used to do the 160 too and had a hard time going to 145 deg. but now love it. Try it at 145 and then choose what's best for you & family. Don

Thanks again all, will definitely give the 145 a try next time we are doing Pork.

It sure did CDN Smoker, since getting my first bottle a couple months ago, it goes on darn near everything I cook.
