Ya really did not have to remove anything but the controller itself, but I'm glad you traced it down. On my Traeger I get a better smoke mode leaving the lid up at least 8-10 minutes after seeing smoke. Played with p settings some, but p2 seems to work well here in norcal. Grill is not in direct sun. I know some folks in this heatwave have had problems with that.

On mine I did have to remove it. The controls do not have any screws on the outside, But THANKS for the HELP!

TP, Just go to your vast cast iron storage and grab 2 pieces you never use and put it on Craigslist. Vintage cast iron goes fast. When I clean out my garage I ask myself " have I needed or wanted this in the past 3 years???" Out it goes for something I can use on a regular basis. [cooking toys/tools]. Works for me.

I have never seen a controller mounted like that before. Does it have studs with nuts on the inside??

I really need to get started back on eBay and get rid of some of this junk. The second time I retired and sat at home for 6 months I was making some serious money selling stuff that had sat around for 10 years or more. I have sold at least 300 pieces of cast iron and probably have around 100 or more left and only use about 10 or so to cook with. I probably have 200-300 straight razors left and that many pocket knives. That doesn't even get into my wife's junk. I kind of look at this as my retirement fund.

Great place to give and recieve help without anyone giving any opinions on what your cooking on. Dat's why LTBBQ rules! Other forums would trash the Traeger knockoff. In this economy it will get more folks in the game. LTBBQ = ANYTHING BBQ, and thats whats it's all about, however you do it.

Right on Smokin! We are all about everybody bringin' whatcha' got to the cookout - and usin' it! No one "knows it all" here....We have lots of folks that know their stuff and how to use it - and are gracious in their sharing attitude. Like a backyard party ought to be!.
