Friday the Thirteenth Drumettes, Burgers and Dogs
« Reply #-1 on: February 13, 2015, 07:25:45 PM »
My youngest son, his wife and our granddaughter came up from Florida for the weekend.  We wanted something
simple and quick for dinner, so decided on chicken Drumettes, burgers and dogs.

Drumettes on the left were marinated for 4 hours in Frank’s Hot Sweet Chili.  They were then seasoned with
Oakridge BBQ Chicken and Game and topped with Smokin Guns Sweet Heat.  The Drumettes on the right were
marinated for 4 hours in Zesty Italian dressing then seasoned with Mo Rockin and topped off with the Sweet Heat.

Drumettes are on the Weber Performer.  I am using the small vortex and a small chunk of cherry wood inside the vortex
this time.  I normally put it on the grate but wanted to try something different this time.  I am burning Kingsford Blue.

Getting the burgers seasoned. The ones in the back were seasoned with Big Poppas Double Steak and the ones in the
front with Tatonka dust.  Dogs are Hebrew National.

Drumettes are done!

Burgers and dogs on!

Burgers and dogs done!

Dinner is served on our fine paper china!

Real tasty quick dinner! I just may be putting the wood inside the vortex for now on. I got more of a distinct smoke
flavor then when I put the chunk on the grate.

Mike,
Every time I see you use the vortex I feel like I am missing something with my Weber.  I just need to pull the trigger, I guess.  We'll see.

I got one for Christmas, Art, and love it ! ! !

So far, I've only used it like Mike has here, but I'm looming forward to trying it other ways in the future.

BTW - great looking plates, Mike ! ! !
