A new toy to celebrate Spring.
« Reply #-1 on: April 07, 2015, 10:53:17 PM »
I got Spring fever and the only cure was to get a new bbq. I got an Acorn Komado today. Went together quickly then seasoned the grates with organic flaxseed oil, and did a burn for 30 minutes and seasoned again and then another burn. Brined some wings and dusted with my blend of Montreal chicken spice and Tex-Mex spice. Threw them on at 430 degrees for 30 minutes.
Wings stuck to the grate when I first put them on but when the grates got hot they released beautifully. I shut it down after cooking and ended with over half my charcoal still left. I think I'm going to like this thing. They sure have improved these cookers because I had no leaks whatsoever. I only took it up to 500 degrees but next time 700 as I will be doing some 3 inch thick prime strip loin steaks. Here's the obligatory picture............

Awesome! I know you will love it. Now, make sure the BBQ gods are happy and sacrifice some bacon in that thing! ;D

BTW - I think Jaxon has one of these and would probably have a lot of good advice.

What a way to "celebrate" the end of winter/beginning of spring.  Those wings look awesome!  I think I know what I am cooking for dinner tonight.
