Chicken and pork butt!
« Reply #-1 on: May 25, 2015, 02:17:34 AM »
Just want to start by saying HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!
Me and a few friends are doing a BBQ to enjoy our day and remembrance of the fallen.
Going to be using my Traeger Junior Elite.

Decided to season my chicken with some mo' rockin' chicken and way out west by savor spices.
Next is a 9.5lbs pork butt I cut in half to cook two different ways:

First half got lathered in some yellow mustard and some o' so nice Fine Swine and Bovine. Didn't go light on seasoning either!
Second half is getting just some Three Little Pigs KC Touch of Cherry and during the cooking I will squeeze fresh oranges over it.

So the chicken will sit in the fridge for about 12 hrs or so before cooking and both butts will sit in the fridge for about 4 hrs before getting the smoker started.
Out of curiosity if you think the fresh orange on the butt is wrong please let me know! Lol will update while these cook.

Ok soo both butts hit the stall period. The left one is sitting at 172° and the right is at 165°.
Definitely worth having two thermometers!

Very nice

Looks great!
The touch of cherry by three little pigs and fresh squeezed oranges was amazing. The pork didn't pull liked I hoped but was a lot easier then my very first one
