Smoked chicken gizzards and hearts on PK
« Reply #-1 on: May 28, 2015, 11:41:17 PM »
This experiment came out real good. I used PBC all purpose rub,  2 jalapenos, some onion, and butter. Took 4 hours at 250 degrees. Next time I might try covering with foil at the end but it was good as it was

That looks good!

I make fun of my wife and nag her for being unwilling to try things... but, have to admit, I've never tried gizzards or hearts. I guess I should just take my own medicine and try them.  Looks like some green onions, peppers - are those taters or zucchini? This looks like a good way to do that. Thanks!

BTW - STILL not doing lutefisk!

Amen to that!   Plus there's a certain satisfaction I get out of making James (Mr. Marine Corps "I can eat anything with this iron stomach")  gag a little bit sometimes.  :)

Looks great, Highball!

They look good and I find myself trying them every couple years but I just never developed a taste for gizzards.

BTW - STILL not doing lutefisk!
The taters are chunks of butter, I searched around for a chicken gizzards and hearts BBQ recipe and there wasn't much so I figured I would try this. It came out better then I had hoped. I know its not for everyone but its worth trying

Thanks, highball - I kinda assumed that, but that helps. Going to give it a try... I've traveled around the world and tried many "strange" things, I've eaten bugs in Mexico and Thailand, so this should be easy... right...?  ??? ::)
