Beer Can Chicken
« Reply #-1 on: June 15, 2015, 04:30:00 PM »
I got a new Wok/Chicken Holder thing to do beer can chicken in so I dont have to use the actual beer can method anymore. Decided to try it out yesterday, and used apple juice instead of beer.

Chicken turned out great, can say as much for the veggies. I guess they are just there to add flavor or to make it look pretty. They turned out to be something Goodyear could use in there next batch of tires. I was worried about them being to greasy to eat from all the run off of the chicken, but that sure wasnt the case!!   ;D

 The chicken looks great.
Moisture is the main thing so don't worry to much about the veggies.   Just do them separately and add the juice to them at the end. Unless of coarse you make the GRAVY...
If the oils from the bird need to be separated from the other liquid. (And you don't have one of those fancy separators) let it cool a little and put it in a Ziploc bag.  Hold the bag at an angle so the fluid is in one corner. The oil will rise to the top after just a couple minutes. Nip the tip of the bag over a bowl and the liquid will drain out. Once it gets down to the oil pinch it off and move to another bowl for the oil.
Then you can get non greasy liquid for your veggies and oil for your gravy too....

Thanks for the tip on separating the juices. Very much appreciated. I have no real clue what the intentions were for on the wok part of the set-up, but I do know it wasnt for what I tried.  ;D
