Two bacon tips/ideas
« Reply #-1 on: September 29, 2015, 10:40:46 PM »
Of course, nearly all of y'all already know this but I'll refresh your memories.

Carole and I  love bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwiches. (I like to add cucumber, cheese and onion to mine.) One of the problems I've had is when you put a couple of pieces of bacon on the sandwich they want to slide off.  Well, I saw something the other day that solved that.

I now cut pieces of bacon in half and make a raft out of them and fry them as a raft and they stay together as one unit. It works on club sandwiches as well and is easy to slice.

The second idea I have not tried but sounds good.  Take a ready-to-bake cinnamon rolls, bake and serve or whatever they're called, unroll and put  a partially cooked strip of bacon on it, reroll and bake.  Then you have the best of two world: cinnamon roll an bacon.

Well, those two memory joggers are there for y'all to try.

Dee

Good tips Dee!!! I want at least 4 rafts on my sandwich so I fry the bacon and build the rafts on the bun. One thing I think helps hold them together is the way you build it. I put the mayo or mustard or whatever on the bottom bun or bread, then the bacon, then the tomato and then the lettuce. I guess mine are a BTL! Don

It's good! You should try it. Sometimes I just have a BELT, bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato.

Although I have more Scot in my heritage than Irish, I tend to prefer my Irish whiskies.  A shot.of Bushmills or Jameson on the rocks is a nice end to the day.

Dee, those are two good ideas. That bacon in the cinnamon roll is a real winner. Got to try that.
