Do you think the rec tec mini is big enough to make beer can chicken?

I have never tried it, I think it might be a bit tight on height depending on the size of the bird. Some have removed the grate and grease tray and then lined the bottom with tin foil. That would give it enough clearance. Might actually try that this weekend! Thanks for the idea!  :)

let me know how it turns out if you do it!

Get the Rec Tec Grill.  You will not be sorry.  Read the post on their website and do the research.  I been having mine since June this year and I love it.   Good luck on your choice...

For best results heat the beer up in a sauce pan and then pour it back into the can. Otherwise it takes a lot of time for the beer to heat up and steam the inside of the chicken. Leave it half full because it will fill up with juices. And you can add flavoring to the beer too. Spices, lemon juice, etc...

Awesome! I think after I see your video, it will be my final decision point. Because honestly, I'm kinda leaning more towards the PBC now. HAHA. So if it's easy to make beer can chicken on the rec tec, go with rec tec.

My MAK rod lasted several years until I up-graded it recently to the new - faster ignition system. And in my Rec Tec, I have not needed to replace it yet (3 years on...?)

I did replace mine after about 6 months, don't know why it went although I had used the grill about 3 times a week since I got it.

Ok, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger. Just need some more help deciding. I've narrowed it down to PBC or the rt mini. Both seem really easy to operate. PBC is cheaper and lower maintanance I assume. Rt mini seems like it would be a lil more difficult to maintain if something went wrong. I guess it all depends on which one makes the better food.

My vote is for both! You can't go wrong with that and if you decide one or the other you'll end up getting the other one eventually too.  It's happened to most of here, time and time again until we run out of fingers to count our cookers on  ;)
