Ok, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger. Just need some more help deciding. I've narrowed it down to PBC or the rt mini. Both seem really easy to operate. PBC is cheaper and lower maintanance I assume. Rt mini seems like it would be a lil more difficult to maintain if something went wrong. I guess it all depends on which one makes the better food.

My vote is for both! You can't go wrong with that and if you decide one or the other you'll end up getting the other one eventually too.  It's happened to most of here, time and time again until we run out of fingers to count our cookers on  ;)

hahaha! nice! which one makes a better brisket?
Just my 2 cents but to me the Rec Tec mini would do more   Smoke, bake, grill etc....

Can't cook a pan of beans in the PBC like you can in the Rec Tec

I don't have either. But I agree the pellet grill is more versatile. Do you have a good local source for pellets?

I usually just get them online

Just my two cents, I have no experience on the PBC or a pellet pooper.
I wouldn't base my decision on which one does beer can chicken the best.  I have the weber holder chicken stand and love the concept but spatchcocked chicken is also fantastic.
I know someone that had both a traeger and the PBC, thinned the herd and the PBC went on the chopping block.
No doubt if it was me I'd go for the RecTec, been wanting one since I first saw them.

Hope you like your decision.  Can't wait to see some cooks on your choice.

What brand of pellets do you all recommend? Should I get the rec tec brand or are there any others?

I use Lumberjack pellets in my RT and am vey happy with both the quality and price of them. I buy 40# bags and keep them in Rubbermaid totes. Depending on what I get they run $17-20 for a bag that size. I almost always use their MHC blend. Fareway foods just had LJ pellets (hickory) on sale for 6.99/20# bag so I bought some of them as well. They only had 2 bags left, no rain checks.

Hmmm...well - do you prefer the taste of meats cooked over charcoal or "live wood" ( meaning - wood that is not charcoal when you start cooking with it...it will become charcoal during the cook...).

There is a different smoke and flavor profile for foods cooked over charcoal vs those cooked with pellets.
BBQ is neither verb or noun. It is an experience.
