Smoked Salsa
« Reply #-1 on: September 10, 2016, 08:17:55 PM »
Got a wild hair and thought I would smoke some veggies to make salsa for the game tomorrow. I smoked Romas, jalapenos, and an onion. I smoked them for two hours then blended everything til smooth. I have got to tell you that I will not make salsa any other way. My past salsas pretty much.....well......sucked. This was bomb! Recipe below. Thanks for looking! Go Falcons!

6 good size Romas
Not quite 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
1/2 ts chopped garlic
2 tbs lime juice
1/2 ts cumin
1/2 ts kosher salt
1/2 ts ground pepper
1 whole jalapeno w/seeds
1/4 cup diced onion

I smoked two jalapeƱos just in case I needed more heat. One was enough for me. Of course you may need to add more of something to suit your taste. Everything was cut in half to absorb the smoke better.

Looks good, cold smoked velveeta makes a great queso dip with your salsa added.

Love smoked salsa. I like to char my tomatoes and peppers over high heat before making salsa. It brings out the natural sugars and different flavors.

Looks good Steph
