I am receiving my first smoker on Tuesday. I am curious what else I need.  I am thinking of getting the following items. What other suggestions do you have?
  • ThermaQ or Maverick
  • Silicone BBQ Gloves
  • Bear Claw
  • Injector
  • Frog Mats
  • Grill Grates
  • Amazn Smoke Tube

I think you're off to a good start.  The only thing I might add (if you don't already have one) is a small shop vac for removing ash from the places where it will accumulate.  Since I have two pellet cookers I use my vac a lot.

You will most likely want to invest in a downdraft baffle to help even out the temps and get the smoke down to grate level.

They're about $60 + shipping here:  http://dongodkesdowndraft.com/

I'd go for the Maverick; they are rock solid.  And IMHO, I think the Bear Claws are a waste of money.

All in all, it looks like you're good to go!

Cliff's (tenthunter) is right about the bear claws..if you cook to temp it will fall apart, mine were a waste after one use.  just sayin.   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

I actually get bear claws for free with my silicone BBQ gloves. Would you really go for Maverick over the Thermoworks ThermaQ?  I know the Thermoworks doesn't have a remote monitor for monitoring in the home but I have heard of what seems to be too many quality issues with the Maverick.

I got my Grid Iron several weeks ago, and my accessory list was quite similar to yours.

I also outfitted it with a Tappecue wi-fi digital temperature monitoring system.
I recently also added a black ash bucket (from Lowes) to easily and safely remove ash.
Adding a battery powered magnetic base LED lamp has proved handy.
Several magnetic hooks are handy to hold things like the silicone gloves (I added short cord loops to each glove)

I made a few small modifications (adding a floor lock; a magnet on the knob, and  a waterproof case for the Tappecue), and made a couple of short videos showing these mods

For anyone interested...

Congrats on receiving Grid Iron smoker.
Did you purchase the lid installation kit?  Not saying you need it but I was curious.

Get the maverick. Most here have the 732 model. I don't recall anyone posting issues with it

Know anything about his site: http://shop.pelletgrillaccessories.com/product.sc?productId=258&categoryId=8

The downdraft at that site is ~$55 and all stainless steel. Seems like a better deal.
