Charcoal and chicken
« Reply #-1 on: April 11, 2018, 11:57:38 AM »
I love charcoal.  It's my favorite fuel for 95% of my cooks.  Fired up the green machine.

Got some chicken thighs ( bone less / skinless, icky but wife wanted them) from WinCo.  Salt and pepper on half of them and green mountain sizzle rub on the other half.

One piece of Apple wood for a touch of color and light smoke profile.

There is nothing like a little smoke to but a smile on your face.

Oh ya.  That's some nice color.

I don't know about you but I like a touch of char on my chicken.  Let's crisp it up.

Damn that looks good.

Ok.  Well this is my second plate of food.  I kinda ate the first plate quickly.  My bad.

Thanks for hanging out with me.

Those look YUM!!!  Kind of funny... I did the exact cook last night, but instead of my Vortex I used my SnS.  Placed a chunk of peach wood over the fire and gave the skinless thighs a blast of direct heat at the end to finish off.  Such a good weeknight dinner :)

I cooked some thighs a couple of nights ago this exact same way...only I used the air fryer and added some fries.

A nice, quick meal...

Haven't cooked on charcoal in years, I miss that.  the technique you used here is different from what I've ever done, I like that idea.
I'm going to have to pick up some charcoal and try setting something like that up on my keg.
Chix looks great, I would have probably only had pictures of bare bones!!   :D
