Looking for suggestions for a new pair of poultry shears. Have a pair of Wusthoff and oxo but want a serious tool. Looked at a pair of Shun but a couple of reviews had me worried. Any suggestions?

I have a pair of Cutco chicken shears that were included in a Cutco knife set I bought back in the 70s
they will still cut a penny in half

my handles are plain metal, not coated like the new ones

I ordered a set of the Mesermeister. They are getting rave reviews and I like that they come apart for easy cleaning.

$17.12 at Amazon (free shipping if you have a prime account)

$19.99 at BigPoppaSmokers (free shipping if the order is over $39.99)

There are a couple of styles made by Messermeister - these are my favorite pair: http://www.messermeister.com/10-Inch-Poultry-Shear/

The shape of the handle allows you to use your full hand - rather than just thumb and a couple of fingers. If you are doing more than one chicken - this is a big advantage.

My 17 year old one that I bought from Williams Sonoma has a serrated portion on the blade. Do these? No name on mine, just made in Italy. Have been happy with them.

Sounds like the Messermeister design....Could be a private label?  I have to use a magnifier to see the Messermeister logo....

When they say 10 inch shears, is that the total length or just the length of the blades? I just measured mine and the total length was 8.5 inches. If these things come with 10 inch blades I will be using them in the garden. ;)
