Pellet grills in a big box store.

That's right.  I was in Home Depot today and to my amazement, they were selling a pellet pooper.  Don't get too excited.  It's not a rec-tec, yoder, or memphis; but it is a pellet grill.  They have a brinkman pellet grill for  $499.

Didn't LA post something also about a Chargriller Pooper exclusively at Lowes?  Pretty soon we will be buying em at Wal-mart.  :)

Let's look at the "real bright side".  This may mean there will be more "pellets" available at really competitive prices at a lot of places.

Never mind.  I'll still try to get a group together to make another "big buy" on pellets.  That way I can get the brand and flavors I want.

I shop Lowe's too, but I haven't seen that Char Griller one.

Art makes a good point that the box stores should start selling pellets, but I haven't seen that yet.  It'd be nice for those of us who only buy a bag at a time to add some smoke to a grill, but for the pellet heads, online may still be a better option.

the Char-Griller has a better controller and looks a little better made than the Brinkman

You are right Captain, the Char-Griller looks nice.

You get what you pay for.  Somebody will always figure out how to cut corners and slack on quality in order to get the price down.  Caveat Emptor.

At least these low end models will give pellet grills better exposure.  The more popular they get the better for everyone ;)

Pellet Grills are really taking off. All you have to do is cook one time on one and you are hooked.

I'm having too much fun with charcoal to play with pellets

FINALLY...a kindred spirit.

I'm lookin' to get into charcoal and wood in a bigger way this year.  I don't want no pellet-pooper!

Just sayin'...

Jaxson a good cook can make a great meal on a hot rock.

But, when you get tired of playin "pokey-pokey" with the fire several times a nite on a long cook when the temperatures outside drop - you may want to give a pellet cooker a try. This year at the FG -you can use mine or one that will be loaned to us. ;)

Someone please pass the crow...

After talking with Tt and IR2Dum today, I am beginning to think pellets may be in my future.

Found out from Donm that Academic Sports has their Outdoor Goumet PP sale priced at $199.  He said it is a good bit larger than the Lil Tex with a bit heavier grade steel, too.  He also likes the inset lid that helps keep smoke in AND the adjustable chimney.  He is cookin' a chicken now as his first cook, and will let me know how it turns out.

Now, I don't have deep pockets, but I don't want a piece of j**k for a low price - know what I mean?  This SOUNDS like an adequate PP...any thoughts from the peanut gallery?
