Pork skewers.

Cubed some pork chops.  Marinated for a day in spiedie sauce.  (Spiedie sauce is a regional thing from upstate New York that I found from a post in another forum.  It's basically amped up Italian dressing.)  Skewered and onto the G2G.  Time to make a sandwich.  Pork cubes onto some Italian bread, a little bit of onion, then topped off with Kraft Cucumber Ranch, which is a easy substitute for tzatziki sauce.  Love a good sandwich.

Tin..I saw them on diners, drive-ins and dives..guess you can do them with lamb to. Don't they do them on a flat bread? I love gyros's too? Can't be bad. Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Yep, that's what I was thinking.  Even though the traditional (according to google) serving is just the marinated meat on Italian bread, the first time I made this was with chicken on pita bread.  With the pita it reminded me of a gyro so I thought it would be better with onion and tzatziki sauce.  The second time I switched to pork on Italian bread.  It was better, but I still thought it would benefit from onion and tzatziki sauce.  So I tried again and came up with this using the cucumber ranch instead of tzatziki.  This third installment for me is a winner.

Pam - I think they originally started with lamb but then made substitutions over the years.  Mind you, I'm not from that region.  I merely saw a post that interested me, then I saw a bottle of the sauce on the shelf and figured, let's give it a try.
