First Ribs on the MAK
« Reply #-1 on: March 26, 2013, 10:15:44 PM »
This morning woke up to -18C, (-0.4F), doing ribs anyway.

Had some BB's in the freezer that need to get used up.

Here they are seasoned up with Jan's on two and Cowboys on two.
Thank you Jan

MAK 1351, lots of snow here

Into the foil, butter, brown sugar, honey and 5 alive. Did not have apple juice

Sauced up with Sweet Baby Rays Hicory and brown sugar

Had to try these
Big Poppa's MAK Smoked Jalapeno Scalloped Taters

Finished up

Salad, kinda

I did the BB's with a 2-1.5-.5 and they came out dry. Taste was good along with the flavour. Temp was held @ 225 thru out.

Potatoes were very good, maybe a touch more liquid.

Thanks for viewing

Looks real good. Hopefully our rib man Sparky will chime in. Might have been too long in the foil. I use the sparky method, which never comes out dry. But to be honest, I haven't cooked baby backs before.

whats 5 alive?  never heard of it.  try raising your temp to 275°.  2 hours on > 1 hour in FL > 30 - 45 minutes to set up.  last 30 minutes is the time for sauce if you want to use sauce.  works every time my friend.  a lot of snow where your at.   8)

I've heard of Five Alive, but it's been years.  Didn't know they still made it.

Here is a link for 5 Alive
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Alive

It was either that or beer

Thanks Sparky for the suggestions.

It all looks great. Maybe it was the ribs themselves that were tough. like their counterparts, pork butts that take forever to cook.  Just a thought.
