Char-Griller Wood Pellets at Lowes.
« Reply #-1 on: April 03, 2013, 05:21:57 PM »
LostArrow started a topic about Char-Griller's pellet grill built for Lowes and now Lowes is sellling Char-Griller Wood Pellets in 20 pound bags for $9.95.  Per Lowes web site " Special blend of wood for delicious flavor. Blend of alder, apple, maple, hickory and mesquite."

Twenty pound bag of special blend pellets.

Pick up one bag for a test run on two pounds of bacon for Sweetie.

Looks like a nice blue smoke but the smell is a little off compared to other Pellets I use.  Sweetie said "you better not ruin my bacon with those untested pellets".

Bacon is done here is a picture of some.

The bacon pick up a very nice flavor from the pellets.  Sort of a fruity hickory flavor.
We are surprised how well the flavor and aroma of the bacon is with the off aroma the pellets produced.
Of course it is hard to make bacon taste bad so next will be some ribs or shoulders for a proper assessment.

BTW, I usually use Fast Eddy's Hickory and if I want added flavor I load up the A-MAZE-N-TUBE-SMOKER with a mixture of BBQr's, Charcoal and Sugar Maple or Apple or Cherry.

Ditto on the flavor info. For that price I would buy a bag myself to try out. Don't think they have it at my local lowes.

Ditto.  Watching this as well.

Could be the Messy wood make the smell 'off'?

It is an interesting mixture of woods they use, but it sounds like a winner. Like to see someone grab one of the Char-Griller poopers and put it through it's paces...........

Top left is BBQr's Delight Charcoal and Sugar Maple
Top right is Fast Eddy's Hickory
Bottom is Char-Grillers

Overall length, diameter and density seem about the same with Char-Griller's a little longer.

Check online, most big box stores will let you purchase and ship to store free of charge. Then simply go and pick it up.
I checked and have that option for the Lowe's store where I live.

Just picked up a bag from my local Lowe's in Modesto, CA.  They had 12 bags in stock.  $9.95 and after our low tax (LOL) it came to $10.75 for the 20 lbs.  That's the same price I would pay at Cash & Carry for a 20 lb bag and no shipping costs.

At first I thought these new pellets were from Pacific Pellet since their line of pellets is "Gourmet BBQ wood pellets".  I've been using Pacific Pellet BBQ pellets for quite some time now.  But after checking, these new pellets have a similar name ... "Gourmet BBQ wood pellet" but are not made by Pacific Pellet.

Will give this bag a try and see what happens.  Quite the blend of flavors ...

That's a good price but I'm not a fan of pre-mixed pellets. I like to control what I cook with.

IMHO you can't go wrong with BBQr's Delight pellets... I use them to fuel the Yoder and to add some additional flavor I'll use different BBQr's Delight pellets in the A-Maze-N tube.

I prefer the blends like GMG Gold or Perfect Mix........looking forward to the results on these new pellets...........

I have used BBQ Delight Oak pellets and they are excellent pellets  :)
