Alternative to Frog Mats
« Reply #-1 on: April 04, 2013, 11:08:11 AM »
Good Day,

As I killed my last set of Frog Mats I need to replace them. Has anyone used this product and are you happy with them? Has anyone ordered from this company? Does anyone know of a cheaper place?

Alternative to Frog Mats

Thanks,

Link is not working CDN...

But - there was a thread recently posted by Tenpoint5 about this very subject. He found a company that sells the same product at 1/2 the price.
You might want to look at this one:

And - I would be interested as well!  In fact - let me see if I can do something to make it even better..... ;D

Todd from Amazen is selling BBQ MAtz now.  I think they are a better quality than Frog Mats.  I was never really impressed with frog Mats.  Todd has them on his web site

My one frog mat is laying in the garage dirty. I got along for many years without them so just bought one last summer. It does not come clean in the dishwasher, I have to use a brush on it in the sink. Most of what I cook goes on the grates, for small things like wings I like the porcelain coated perforated pans. I also have two stainless perforated pans, I use, rectangular and two cover the grate area on my Traeger. Don

Don they are never gonna look like new once you use them ;)

I run mine through the dishwasher after knocking off all the clods and chunks. What comes out I consider clean and ready for use.

Ditto on the dishwasher.  Mine come out fine.  I've been using mine for 2+ years and they look pretty much the same as when they were new.

My wife got me a brand other than Frog Mats (can't remember what brand) and they clean up with a sponge in the sink.  Look the same now as when they were new.

I know they will not look brand new but mine comes out of the dishwasher with some chunks sticking yet. I'll stick to my pans. Don

I rub two frogmats together on all sides before putting in the dishwasher. The action removes anything stuck to them and my dog enjoys what falls onto the ground.

I bought the mats 10.5 is talking about from KSO and they work just like the one frog mat I have.  I bought 6 for my six rack and also used them to wrap/shape Canadian bacon.

I asked the wife.  The one I got is Chef's Planet.  But they are more expensive than Frog Mats, which is probably why they still look new.

Just saw this...

Todd Johnson from Amazen Products ( one of site sponsors) sells a Frog Mat clone for 1/2 the price of Frog Mats.

Hope this helps.....

I bought the mats from KSO also and they work great. My mat was 19 x 34 and cost $13.00, I cut it in half to make it a little easier to clean.

I have no idea who KSO is...I just know that Todd is a paying sponsor for LTBBQ, and has been a generous supporter every time we have an event that we participate in.  ;) ;D

I have been trying to order his product but he is hard to track down.

I think when I retire (someday) I will open an online BBQ store to make it easier for Canadians to access these fine products.
