New Grill Brush
« Reply #-1 on: June 26, 2013, 07:48:03 PM »
I picked up this grill brush at Lowes for 5 bucks. I was wondering if anyone else has used one. It looks like it might clog up quickly but soon to find out. let me know your experience with it :)

I have one around here someplace.  It is about the same but the pads are replaceable.  It worked okay on my old gasser with SS grates.  Newer gasser has GrillGrates and doesn't need it.

The problem with it is that I pushed down hard and it scrubbed too deep to use on seasoned CI or aluminum.  It would be super for my Weber SS grates.

Just used it to clean the grates. It cleaned the surface well but did not get in the nook and crannies. It snagged on one of the end grate rods and pulled out a bit. We'll see how it lasts :)

I have used a ball of foil for a long time now and I still can find a brush that works better. I just tear off a small piece of foil, ball it up, and then when I press to clean the grill it forms and fills between the grates to get everything clean.

I have heard that a raw onion works really good to clean a hot grill but never tried it myself.

Interesting idea. Will try an onion, but not the grillion. That looks like an expensive uni-tasker. If the onion works, I figure I can use a long "grilling fork" or even one of my old wire brushes to hold the onion. I watched the video of the grillion and it seems to waste a lot of onion. If this works, I think using a slice of onion on an old grill brush will not only protect me from "lost bristles" but allow the use of more of the onion.

Thanks for the tip!
